Here are some of my fave outfits from the summer.
But these days, now that I embrace summer in all it's glory, I'm not so willing to wish it away. Also, my hair becomes a bit of a worry - my summer, sleek, sharp bob takes on a bit of a wavy, unhinged vibe in the rain and fog and I don’t like it.
But there’s no point whinging about the weather as there’s sod all we can do about it, is there? So, if you too suffer from the same ‘season change anxiety’ as me, we just need to prepare ourselves and look at the positives – all will be good. And there's a phrase that Mr.B likes to use "there's no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing".
Some of your summer clothes can be worn in the winter. For example - wear your denim skirt with opaque tights and trainers, the culottes that you'd usually wear with sandals, try with boots instead and bung a jumper on with your pleated midi and add an ankle boot. And of course there's the 'wear a jumper under your cami-style dress' that seems to be a big 'thing' at the mo.
Entering into a new season is also a great opportunity to reinvent yourself. When I was a kid I would plan, during the 6 week summer break, what sort of person I wanted to be when I returned to school. It was usually something along the lines of ‘the person who works the hardest; the girl who’s hair has miraculously grown 6 inches in 6 weeks (as if!) and the person with the coolest Pops Club pencil case’ - you know, all the important stuff!
I’m going back to my roots and will embrace denim and leather. I’d like some great fitting Levi’s, a black, soft leather, biker jacket which I'll team with simple t-shirts and jumpers, topped off with a hat to stop the frizz. I realise that I’ve just inadvertently described James Bay! Pah ha ha ha...! I'll be the one holding back the river!

And before I go, I'm wishing all the kids (& mums!), especially those starting new schools, an easy transition, new friendships and above all, happiness.
