The World Is Just A Great Big Onion...

Yes, I know, a funny title for a song and blog post isn't it?! I was going to call it 'Shades of Grey' but I thought that might be misleading as there are no handcuffs, blindfolds or accessories of that nature in this post (sorry) and so, the onion option seemed my best bet.

But why onions?

Layers! Layers that are mainly shades of grey so you can understand my dilemma now, I hope!

The weather is so darn changeable that what might start as a cold & frosty morning, morphs into a wet & mild afternoon and by the evening it's nippy-norman again - so, layers can be mighty useful as you can remove and replace as the day progresses.

First up is my coat from Topshop. I adore the shape, it's roomy, warm and the bouclé texture makes it that little bit more exciting on the eye. Also, if it bobbles with age - who can tell?

The sleeves on this coat are great because what you might think are the cuffs of my jumper, are actually part of the coat which makes it extra snug as the wind can't whistle up your arm hole!

There's no link on the Topshop website I'm afraid (grr!) but take a look at one similar at Marks and Spencer. If I hadn't found the Topshop one first, I'd definitely have bought the M&S one.
Next up is this scarf, also bouclé, from F&F at Tesco. I love the red in it as it brings the grey to life. It's VERY warm and soooo soft - think of stroking the curly, silky fur on a Cockerpoo puppy and you've got it! The hat is H&M last year but they still have similar.

Peeling off the coat layer now, I reveal a grey, alpaca blend, jumper from Logg at H&M. If I'm brutally honest with you (which I know I can be), I totally love grey jumpers. I have to be very strong willed not to buy one every time I'm out & about browsing the stores.

This jumper isn't, for whatever reason, on the H&M website (grr again!) but if you click on the picture it will take you to the brown version of it. Yes, a bit disappointing I know, but at least I'm directing you to the same style jumper and not some totally random 'substitute' á la online grocery shopping!

Adore the button detail on it.

And under this grey jumper, hides another grey layer in the form of a jersey roll-neck from New Look. It's soft, cosy, bang on trend and yet thin - perfect for layering. You can add these thin layers under tops and dresses that you may have worn in the warmer months giving them a new lease of life for the winter. I also bought it in black which I will be popping on under my fave, short sleeve dress.

I don't own this beautiful vest from Jigsaw pictured below but I wanted to share it with you because it's so pretty and will keep the chills at bay. I like the lace at the top and bottom which would look cute peeping out from under a jumper or blouse. Perhaps something to add to your Christmas list...?

I'll have it in either the blue or the black please Mr. B, size 8. Oh, but hang on, I just remembered, I'd really like the Chanel Coco Mademoiselle perfume which obviously wont keep me as warm as the vest but it smells sooooo goooood. I'll leave that with you, I know you'll make the right decision! ;-)

OK, now for the tights and if I zoom in....
Cosy Grey Tights Next, Pattern
...you'll see that they're patterned! That may put the fear of God up some people but pattern can be really good fun, adding texture and interest if chosen well. These are from Next and are as cosy and comfy as can be. Also available in other colours.
And finally, the skirt...
I departed with my much loved, seen better days, denim mini skirt last year and have been on the lookout for a replacement since. There were lots of them around in the summer, but they were either too distressed and/or way too short, i.e. my jumpers would have been longer! I'd seen some great denim pencil skirts in the shops but I knew I wanted something shorter and more casual. Inspiration hit me this week and so I paid Fat Face a visit and... bingo! Exactly what I was looking for. It's also available in black.

Not a blingy embellishment or unrealistic faded patch, in sight!
So, that's it from me for now but I'll be back with a couple more posts before Christmas arrives (only 22 sleeps).

Until then, I'll leave you with a photo of my friend Joey doing the layer thang....
