It’s bad manners to buy things for yourself whilst out shopping with a client and so as soon as I possibly could, I took myself on a personal shopping trip to Phase Eight. But, alas, no silver slouchy bags to be seen! So, I got online and ordered me one. It was going to be delivered to my local Phase Eight within a few days - yes!
Yesterday, I received a text to say it had arrived. Yesterday was a Wednesday. On Wednesday’s I leave work in time for the school pick up and in time for getting a parking space somewhere within half a mile radius of the school gate. I do not leave work in time to go shopping. BUT I NEEDED THAT BAG! I couldn’t leave it waiting in the shop until the weekend (obviously I could have done but I didn’t want to). Therefore, I needed a plan. Cue ‘Mission Impossible’ music:-
Leave work. Travel 6.6 miles to vicinity of Phase Eight. Find parking (on market day!). Run to shop. Pray no queue in the shop. Collect stunning silver bag. Run back to car park. Pay for parking (£2 for what would easily be less than 10 minutes – jeez!). Don’t get lost in car park trying to find way out. Get close enough to ticket machine at exit barrier to avoid looking like an idiot and wasting mine and everyone's time. Drive (within speed limit) to the school. Find parking space. Pick up child (preferably mine).
If, like my client, you are more security conscious and also want something more structured, take a look at these other options. It's a shame the Boden one has brown straps really - but it's still rather lovely!
That's it from me but I will be back with another blog post just as soon as I can!
I might write to Paul McCartney actually and ask him where he found that eighth day in the week - I could really do with that right now!
